The 'Downs' project was borne out of a desire to document a local area of outstanding natural beauty. Nestled between the counties of Dorset and Wiltshire in the South of England, this area is home to farmers, dog-walkers, paragliders, hobbyists and lots of livestock.
The obvious choice would have been to create a simple landscape project, but those are in plentiful supply. Instead, I wanted to scratch beneath the surface to become more intimate with the area itself. What started as a simple idea of capturing a different perspective grew into something much bigger, and the idea of documenting the landscape over 4 seasons began to take shape. The Downs project took 2 years to shoot, and utilised a number of different approaches to capture the drama, tranquility and beauty of this area that I like to call...home.
I hope you enjoy them.
